Research Project: Control of Plant Parasitic Root Diseases and Nematodes in Ornamental Production Systems

Location: Crops Pathology and Genetics Research

2008 Annual Report

1a.Objectives (from AD-416)
Develop methods to effectively control root-lesion and root-knot nematodes in ornamental production systems. Reduce transmission of root disease pathogens via irrigation water.

1b.Approach (from AD-416)
Isolate, identify and evaluate microbial antagonists, and develop and evaluate cultural practices, to effectively control plant parasistic nematodes in production systems. Develop cultural practices to mitigate transmission of root disease pathogens via irrigation water. Documents SCA with UC-Davis. Formerly 5306-22000-013-01S. FY2006 Fund Transfer $62,748. FY2006 Fund Transfer $30,000. FY2007 Fund Transfer $62,748. Formerly 5306-22000-013-10S (10/07).

3.Progress Report
This specific cooperative agreement research project was recently transfered to a new UC Davis cooperator, in the U. C. Davis, Plant Sciences Department who has been working in collaboration with UC Davis Cooperator, on water reuse/purification issues related to greenhouse floriculture production. To see information about the previous research for this specific cooperative agreement, refer to the annual report 5306-22000-014-02S for 2007. Progress made will be reported in the next annual report for this SCA in 2009. The ADODR monitors this SCA by maintaining a complete file of the agreement, reviewing the annual reports, and conducting meetings with the cooperator.
