Oklahoma City, OK -- Under the disaster declaration of May 10, Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) has been made available to residents who live or work in the nine Oklahoma counties of Canadian, Cleveland, Grady, Kingfisher, Lincoln, Logan, McClain, Oklahoma and Pottawatomie.
To be eligible for DUA, as a result of the severe storms and tornadoes that began on May 8, applicants must:
- Not be eligible for regular unemployment insurance benefits
- Have lost or experienced interrupted employment or self-employment as a direct result of the severe storms and tornadoes that began on May 8
- Have been living or working in the above-named counties during the time of the disaster and be unemployed as a direct result of the disaster.
The first payable week for DUA related to this disaster is May 11, 2003.
DUA applications will only be taken for a 30-day period. The deadline for filing is June 14, 2003.
