Columbia Recovery Operation Still Needs Help Finding Shuttle Material

Lufkin, TX -- The Columbia Shuttle Recovery Team is deeply appreciative of those who have helped discover and retrieve shuttle material. With the coming of Spring, trees, bushes, vines and grasses are beginning to grow. Eventually, this growth will cover shuttle material remaining unfound.
Any piece of shuttle material could prove to be an essential piece for investigators trying to understand what happened on February 1, 2003. But there are several critical parts that will become less valuable if they are not found soon.
"If you find something you believe may be shuttle material," says Allen Flynt, NASA oversight manager, DFO Lufkin, "please report it immediately to the Recovery Center using our toll-free hotline: 1.866.446.6603."
"If you have had problems getting through on this telephone line, if you have not been called back about your previous report, or if the material has not been picked up, please try again," advises Scott Wells, federal coordinating officer with the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
"We are committed to recovering as much of Columbia as possible and returning it home. We deeply appreciate your help in this important effort," continued Wells.
