United States Geological Survey - Western
Fisheries Research Center in Seattle, Washington,
Water Conservation Program has been selected to receive an Individual Award for
Water Conservation. The Western Fisheries
Research Center
implemented water conservation improvements in FY 2005 that resulted in an
annual water consumption reduction of 3,031 CCF or 62.7 percent, and
$23,870. Kyle S. Sato, Mechanical
Engineer, was the energy champion of the projects which included water usage
investigation, changes to autoclave procedures, cooling tower equipment modification,
and employee education.

United States Fish and Wildlife Service – Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters and
Visitor Contact Station, in Swanton, Vermont, has been recognized as a Federal Energy Saver Showcase Facility. This project exemplifies the principles of
sustainable design, utilizing environmentally preferable materials, recycled
content materials, energy and water conservation technologies and incorporating
renewable energy systems which capture geothermal, solar, and wind energy.
