The rocky intertidal area at Cabrillo National Monument is highly valued as a recreational, educational, and scientific public resource. In order to conserve these tidepools for this and future generations, the National Park Service conducts long-term ecological monitoring under the Cabrillo Rocky Intertidal Monitoring Program (CRIMP). Did You Know?
Did you know that the Old Point Loma Lighthouse at Cabrillo National Monument was only in service for 36 years? Due to its hilltop location, the light was frequently obscured by low clouds and fog, forcing construction of a new lighthouse closer to the water.
