BLM Seeks Public Comment on Proposed Forest Treatments in South Dakota

The public is invited to submit comments and concerns to the Bureau of Land Management regarding proposed forest treatments in the Fort Meade Recreation Area.

The BLM South Dakota Field Office is preparing an environmental assessment for fuels reduction projects on the 6,693 acres of public lands within the Fort Meade Recreation Area. The proposed actions would reduce fire potential, enhance wildlife habitat, and improve recreational opportunities.

Public meetings are scheduled at the Sturgis Community Center on March 20, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Comments may be submitted by email to MT_South_Dakota_FO@blm.gov, or in writing to the Bureau of Land Management, South Dakota Field Office, 310 Roundup St., Belle Fourche, S.D. 57717; or fax 605-892-7015. The comment period closes April 21.
