State of Working Wisconsin (.pdf file): The Center on Wisconsin Strategy at the University of Wisconsin–Madison publishes a biennial State of Working Wisconsin (the last one is 2004) that contains county-level economic and demographic statistics from a variety of sources.

Wisconsin Population Statistics: The Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services (DHFS) posts population statistics by county and age.

Wisconsin State Data Center: The Wisconsin Department of Administration posts data on Wisconsin counties, municipalities, and other governmental units such as school districts.

Wisconsin Statistics by County: The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development posts statistics by county for Wisconsin Works, Medical Assistance, Food Stamps, child care, and other social safety net programs.

WISSTAT: Maintained by the University of Wisconsin Extension, this site contains thousands of demographic and economic variables for the state of Wisconsin, its counties and smaller communities. The sources of the data include the U.S. Census Bureau and various state and federal agencies.

Wisconsin Statistical Abstract: Wisconsin publishes a statistical abstract every year or few years. The Census Bureau publishes a guide to the most recent editions.

Office of Social and Economic Trend Analysis: Office at Iowa State University, which "collects, analyzes, interprets, and disseminates information on social, economic, and demographic trends," is a well-organized site containing county-level data for states in the Midwestern region; information is most complete for Iowa but a selection of Census information for other Midwestern states, such as Wisconsin, is also easily accessible through this site.

USDA Food and Nutrition Services

Wisconsin Food Security and Food Assistance Programs: The Wisconsin Food Security Project, a joint project of DHFS and the University of Wisconsin Extension, posts statistics and maps regarding food security and food assistance programs, by county.

Kaiser Family Foundation Health Facts: Provides health statistics on programs such as Medicaid.

Wisconsin School Performance Report: The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) posts a School Performance Report for each school district and school in the state. The report is the state's most comprehensive resource for data on school performance and student achievement.

Wisconsin Free and Reduced School Lunches: The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) publishes data on the percentages of children eligible for free or reduced school lunches for school districts and counties.

Annie E. Casey Foundation Kidscount CLIKS database: provides county, city, and community level indicators of children's well-being in Wisconsin. The site allows users to create specific tables and graphs in many combinations and comparative formats; data were assembled through the national Kidscount Network, and the availability of particular indicators varies among states.

National Child Care Information Center: Provides demographic information about the children, families and child care in Wisconsin, as well as contact information for different state agencies involved in child care. The profiles also contain links to additional state and national resources.

Center for Demography and Ecology: CDE is a multidisciplinary faculty research cooperative for social scientific demographic research whose membership includes sociologists, rural sociologists, economists, epidemiologists, and statisticians.

Center for Urban Initiatives and Research: Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee that provides research services and technical assistance to public and non-profit organizations to help them make informed policy choices.

Center on Wisconsin Strategy (COWS): COWS, at the University of Wisconsin—Madison, conducts research dedicated to improving economic performance and living standards in the state of Wisconsin and nationally.

Institute for Survey and Policy Research: Social Science research facility at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

University of Wisconsin Survey Center: The University of Wisconsin Survey Center provides a complete range of high quality survey research capabilities in order to assist researchers.
