John Day Fossil Beds National Monument
Pets
Image of a dog off-leash in the park.
Shouldn't this dog be on a leash?

Pets are allowed in the national monument but they must be kept under physical restraint (such as a leash) at all times. Pets are allowed in developed areas and along hiking trails.

Horse use on monument trails and within picnic areas is prohibited. Horses must stay off bare rock exposures when traveling in the backcountry.

In the summer months temperatures can exceed 100 degrees, please make sure your pet is kept cool and has water.
