1990 - 1993


Bell Atlantic had no changes during this period. Prior to 1990, Bell Atlantic Corporation was holding company for seven operating companies with one study area jurisdiction for each: The Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone (C&P) - District of Columbia (CDDC), C&P of Maryland (CMMD), C&P of Virginia (CVVA), C&P of West Virginia (CWWV), The Diamond State Telephone Company (DSDE), The Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania (PAPA), and New Jersey Bell Telephone Company (NJNJ).

1994


Bell Atlantic Corporation changed the names of its seven operating companies on 1/1/1994.

Bell Atlantic Corporation (BATR) acquired NYNEX Corporation (NXTR) on 8/14/1997, which consisted of two operating companies: New York Telephone Company (NYNY) and New England Telephone and Telegraph Company (NETC).

On 6/30/2000, Bell Atlantic Corporation (BNTR) and GTE Corporation (GTTC) merged into one company, Verizon Communications (VCTR). During this period, a new corporate structure was created. However, the merged entities remained separate filing companies for ARMIS data. The original operating companies under Bell Atlantic did not change; only the operating companies were given new names, as follows:
