Hi I'm Ernie Martz with FEMA, this is a Red River Valley disaster update for April 20, 2009.

A Mobile Disaster Recovery Center will open in Hendrum, Minnesota on April 22.

This temporary center will assist residents of Red River Valley counties designated for individual assistance with a variety of disaster related questions or concerns.

Visitors will find information on:

Residents can also learn about smart repair and building techniques to reduce damage from future floods, and get valuable information on flood insurance.

Residents are urged to apply with FEMA before visiting a center by calling 1-800-621-FEMA or by going online to disasterassistance.gov.

The combined federal/state center will be located at the Hendrum Fire Hall, 309 Main Street East from Wednesday through Sunday, April 26.

Wednesday through Saturday hours will be 9-7. Sunday hours will be 9-4.

After Sunday, the mobile center will be on the move to a new location.

To find the disaster recovery center nearest you, go online to fema.gov, click on "apply for assistance" and scroll down to "Disaster Recovery Center Locator."

You can also call the FEMA helpline for the location of a recovery center or for information on any disaster recovery questions.
