Abstract

The collection is composed of materials documenting the history of otolaryngology--head and neck surgery, including historical publications, organizational and personal papers, art work, and artifacts. Facilities include exhibit gallery and research area open to the public. Access to the library and collections in storage by appointment only. SERVICES: Reference, photocopying and photographic services available.

 
Holdings

Monographs: 1,300 volumes ranging from 17th century to present. Bulk of collection predates 1950. Archives (including art work on paper): 175 linear feet. Collections include: AAO--HNS records, papers of Alexander Burton Randall (1853-1932); papers and medical illustrations of Adam Politzer (1835-1920); papers and medical illustrations of Chevalier Q. Jackson (1860-1958) and Chevalier L. Jackson (1900-1961); extensive archive on cochlear implants, including papers of William F. House (1923- ), papers of Charles A. Graser, Jr., and oral histories. Artifacts: more than 1,000 items. Collections include the Rosalind N. and David Myers Hearing Aid Collection.
