Title:  The Nation's Report Card
Description: This report will include an overview and amalgam of the findings from the seven curriculum areas assessments of 1988. It will describe performance for fourth graders and eighth graders in six subject areas -- reading, writing, mathematics, science, history, and civics. For twelfth graders, information will be presented in these six subjects plus a seventh, geography. Additionally, pertinent trends, international comparisons, and information about instructional policy will be synthesized. The report will provide an unprecedented profile for American education to the general public, educators, policymakers, legislators and members of athe executive branches of Government, by assembling complete and accurate NAEP data about the progress of American educational achievement. This synthesis should provide the country with a clear understanding of where we have come from, where we are, and what can be predicted for the future.
