Trails to Fourteeners

Fourteeners are the 54 peaks in Colorado over 14,000 ft. in elevation.  There are 3 fourteeners on BLM lands southwest of Lake City.  There are good trails leading to all of them.  We encourage you to stay on those trails to minimize erosion and to avoid impacting endangered species habitat in these fragile alpine ecosystems.  We also encourage you to get an early start so you can get up the trail and off the peak before the thunderstorms that commonly roll through in the afternoon.  See the hiking guide for more tips on hiking at high altitudes.
