NEW ORLEANS MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO FEDERAL DRUG CHARGES

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JOSHUA JOHNSON, age 28, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, pled guilty to a three-count indictment which charged him with possessing with the intent to distribute more than five grams of cocaine base (crack) and a quantity of cocaine hydrochloride and heroin, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to court documents, JOHNSON admitted that on three separate occasions, he sold crack cocaine to a confidential informant working the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for $200. JOHNSON faces a maximum term of imprisonment of forty (40) years, a fine of $2 million and at least four (4) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment. Sentencing has been scheduled for August 5, 2009.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Liz Privitera.
