The Department of Justice recognizes that the unique differences in each district dictate the type of LECC program that would be most effective. The Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee (LECC) in the District of Delaware serves as a catalyst for forging partnerships with federal, state, and local law enforcement and prosecutors. The law enforcement strategy of this District requires a high level of coordination and cooperation among all federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. While the state has organizations for various law enforcement officers (such as the Chiefs of Police Council), the LECC is unique in that it unites federal, state and local law enforcement officials under one organizational umbrella.

LECCs are not only tasked with improving communication in the law enforcement community, but also for providing training and facilitating cooperative efforts by acting as a liaison between the United States Attorney’s Office and the community. In the District of Delaware, the LECC has taken the lead in addressing training concerns for law enforcement. The LECC offers numerous no or low-cost training seminars each year related to current issues. These training sessions are open to all Federal, State and Local law enforcement agencies.
Additionally, the Law Enforcement Coordinator for the District of Delaware is responsible for a number of special projects that are generated within the United States Attorney’s Office. She acts as a liaison between law enforcement and various components of the Department of Justice including, but not limited to, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS), and the Community Capacity Development Office (CCDO). She also assists the U.S. Attorney in developing strategies to implement priorities established by the Attorney General. Recent initiatives include Project Safe Childhood, Weed and Seed, and Project Safe Neighborhoods, a nationwide Presidential initiative to reduce gun violence. The LEC Manager serves as the Chief Information Officer for the District's Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council.
