The second annual New York Xpo for Business was held November 28, 2007 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City. Over 500 exhibitors from the metro area displayed their goods and services and 32 seminars were offered to the more than 7000 attendees. The event showed true cooperation and support - Five (of 6) NY metro USEACs assisted with the staffing of the shared US DOC/NY DEC booth; NY DEC members were available to counsel companies, staffed the booth and participated in the two USDOC international trade seminars.

The steering committee for the 2007 NY Xpo for Business included local chambers of commerce, local, state and federal government agencies (SBA, Empire State Development, NYC Department of Business Services), media (TV, print, radio and internet) as will as local business organizations. KL Fredericks, Director, Harlem USEAC and Issac Savitt, NY DEC member coordinated participation with the show organizer Event Management (www.eventmanagement.com). David Roman coordinated (and presented) the 'Take your Company Global' seminar (more than 35 attendees) which included presentations by NY DEC members Barney Lehrer and Tom Valentine. Melissa Grosso, CS Middletown, CT, presented a seminar on International Marketing (more than 30 attendees) with Barney Lehrer lending his Internet marketing expertise.

Joe Schoonmaker coordinated the NY DEC members available for counseling. NY DEC members Andrea Ratay, Joe Schoonmaker, Tom Valentine, Cynthia Duncan (and staff), Ike Savitt and Barney Lehrer provided counseling to Xpo attendees. Gerri Cristantiello, NEXCO executive director, also staffed the NY DEC table and counseling those that stopped by. Joel Barkan, Joel Reynoso, Jetta DeNend, Alice Chan and Carmela Mammas, NY USEAC; Melissa Grosso, Middletown, CT USEAC; Michael Grossman, Westchester USEAC; Harvey Rubinstein and Carmela Mammas Newark USEAC and David Roman and KL Fredericks, Harlem USEAC staffed the booth, provided counseling to visitors and walked the show to find new clients.

David also prepared the seminar powerpoint presentations and handouts, coordinated DEC members, helping transport and set up the booth banners, tables, chairs, etc. Ike Savitt and his son Norman transported the booth paraphernalia from the Harlem USEAC to the Javits Center and back again.

Melissa met with the show organizer (Event Management) and they will soon be meeting to devise a strategy for bringing an 'international' flavor to the 'Connecticut Xpo for Business'. The show organizer is already planning the CT and NY Xpos for '08 and will be developing a 'Boston Xpo for Business' for '09!
