Natural Resources Coordinating Council (NRCC) Efforts
The Natural Resources Coordinating Council (NRCC) is a collaborative body of natural resource managers
and others with associated responsibilities who work together on various natural
resource issues. Since off-highway vehicle management issues are common among
all natural resource agencies, members of the NRCC group chose to establish an
OHV Steering Committee and three teams to specifically work on OHV issues. This
working group is called the "OHV Interagency Partners."
MOU with OHV Interagency Partners
The "OHV Interagency Partners" group developed a Memorandum of
Understanding among public land agencies to formalize this cooperative
relationship.
OHV Summit
On April 1, the NRCC Steering Team sponsored an interagency OHV
Summit for natural resource managers. Over 120 people were in attendance. This
was a good opportunity for managers to learn from other by sharing
success
stories and ideas.
Final Report
OHV Public Awareness Ad Campaign
In coordination with the NRCC Communication Team, NRCC agencies have combined
their resources and contracted with a local advertising agency to produce an OHV
education and safety campaign. The slogan of this campaign
is
"Live By the Rules."
Statewide OHV Trail Signing Standards
The NRCC Technical Team was given the task of developing
interagency uniform signing standards. These standards were implemented on
January 1, 2002. This new signing protocol also included the use of the "Protect
Your Privilege, Stay on the Trail" logo.
One-day ride brochures published and posted on the internet
The NRCC Technical Team has also been working on providing OHV
information to the public. The team has developed brochures, including maps, for
seven different
one-day
rides in Utah. Additional one-day ride brochures
are in progress.
