SALINA MAN GETS 8+ YEARS IN CRACK COCAINE CASE

TOPEKA, KAN. – Oliver Warren Bradwell, 45, Salina, Kan., has been sentenced to 100 months in federal prison for trafficking in crack cocaine, Acting U.S. Attorney Marietta Parker said today.

In December 2008, Bradwell pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine. In his plea, he admitted that from October 2007 through March 2008 investigators arranged to purchase crack cocaine at least seven times from a group of drug traffickers in Salina including Bradwell, co-defendant Gary D. Jones and co-defendant Jennifer Padgette. On most occasions, Bradwell directed the activities of Jones, who acted as a delivery person. On March 5, 2008, investigators served a search warrant on an apartment in Wichita, Kan., controlled by Bradwell and co-defendant Misty Walker, where they seized 39.56 grams of cocaine base and 3.71 grams of cocaine powder.

Among the co-defendants: Gary Jones pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 41 months in federal prison; Misty Walker pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 12 months and a day in federal prison and Jennifer Padgett pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing.

Parker commended the I-70/I-35 Drug Task Force, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Assistant U.S. Attorney Randy Hendershot and former Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason Coody for their work on the case.
