DODGE CITY MAN GETS 10 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR FIRING ON CAR FULL OF PEOPLE
WICHITA, KAN. – Jorge J. Gonzalez, Jr., 22, Dodge City, Kan., has been sentenced to 10 years without parole in federal prison for shooting at a car full of people, Acting U.S. Attorney Marietta Parker announced today.
In September 2008, Gonzalez pleaded guilty to one count of using a firearm during a crime of violence. In his plea, he admitted that on Sept. 13, 2007, in Dodge City, he used a 9 mm handgun to fire six shots at a Honda Accord. None of the occupants – including a man, a woman and two children – were hit. Gonzalez told investigators he fired because he was upset with the man in the car, who owed him $1,300 for cocaine.
Parker commended the Dodge City Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and Assistant U.S. Attorney Matt Treaster for their work on the case.
