ATCHISON, KAN., MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO FEDERAL CHILD PORN CHARGE

KANSAS CITY, KAN. – Sean Everett, 36, Atchison, Kan., has pleaded guilty to one count of receiving child pornography, Acting U.S. Attorney Marietta Parker announced today.

In his plea, Everett admitted that he was charged as a result of a federal investigation into a commercial child pornography site known as “Home Collection.” In April 2006, the Child Exploitation Section of Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Cyber Crimes Center targeted “Home Collection,” which was operating numerous commercial child pornography sites that allowed users to buy access with a credit card. An analysis of Pay Pal accounts showed that on Dec. 11, 2006, Everett paid $94.95 for access to “hardlovers,” which provided users with access to photographs of children engaged in sexual activities with adults.

On Nov. 8, 2007, ICE agents served a search warrant at Everett’s home in Atchison. They seized a Sony computer with 381 images of child porn and two movies and a Gateway computer with 581 images of child pornography. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children found 15 sets of photos in Everett’s possession in which the child victims have been identified.

Everett is set for sentencing April 28, 2009. He faces a penalty of not less than 5 years and not more than 20 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000. Parker commended Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Lawrence Police Department and the Assistant U.S. Attorney Kim Martin for their work on the case. This case was prosecuted under Project Safe Childhood, a U.S. Department of Justice program that aims to protect children from sexual predators.
