SALINA MAN PLEADS GUILTY IN THEFT OF FIREARMS

KANSAS CITY, KAN. – Charles Richard Ferris, Sr., 47, Salina, pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of possession of stolen firearms.

Ferris admitted that on May 31, 2007, he received stolen firearms from his son, Charles Ferris, Jr., and co-defendant Brenton Robert Born. Born, the younger Ferris, and co-defendant Jamie Neil Durham had stolen the guns from Cleve's Marine and Sporting Goods, 136 South Broadway in Salina. They took a total of 33 rifles and handguns from Cleve's, which was a federally licensed firearm dealership.

Charles Richard Ferris, Sr., told investigators that he agreed to store some of the stolen firearms. Investigators found the guns when they served a search warrant at his home.

Sentencing is set for July 28. He faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000.

Durham was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison. Charles Richard Ferris, Jr., has pleaded guilty and is set for sentencing June 9. Born has pleaded guilty and is set for sentencing May 5.
