Mission Statement

To develop and enforce civil rights and equal opportunity programs pursuant to existing laws, Executive Orders and regulations and to ensure equal opportunity for all Departmental employees and Federally assisted programs funded by the Department.

OUR CHALLENGES

 

Civil Rights

No person in the United States shall, on the grounds of race, color, national origin, age or disability be subjected to unlawful discrimination under any program or activity conducted by or which receives Federal financial assistance from the Department of the Interior. Discrimination includes: denial of services, aids, or benefits; provision of different service or in a different manner; and segregation or separate treatment.  In addition, sex discrimination is prohibited in Federally assisted educational programs.

 

Complaints

You may file an EEO Complaint if you believe you may have been discriminated against on one or more of the following "bases": race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, physical or mental disability, and/or sexual orientation or reprisal for participation in prior EEO activity.

 

Diversity

Term used broadly to refer to many demographic variables, including, but not limited to race, religion, color, gender, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, age, education, geographic origin, and skill characteristics.
