DRUG DEALERS FROM DETROIT CONVICTED FOR DEALING IN KALAMAZOO
Monday, October 6, 2008 -
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Walter Greenking Boulding, 29, of Detroit, and Willie
Rayshawn Richardson, 26, also of Detroit, were convicted by a federal jury after a four day trial of
conspiring to distribute large quantities of crack cocaine in the Kalamazoo area, U.S Attorney
Charles R. Gross announced today. Dates forsentencing have not yet been set. Given Boulding’s
criminal history, he is facing mandatory life in prison. Richardson is facing a minimum of 10 years
and a maximum of life in prison.
At a trial in front of the Honorable Judge Robert J. Jonker in Grand Rapids, the government tendered evidence showing that from October 2007 until February 28, 2008, Boulding and Richardson sold crack cocaine and other drugs on a daily basis on the 400 block of Davis street in
Kalamazoo. Boulding and Richardson obtained their drugs from their hometown of Detroit and used
women, primarily drug addicts, to carry their drugs from Detroit to Kalamazoo. The women were
given drugs and money in exchange for carrying Boulding and Richardson’s drugs inside of their
bodies from Detroit to Kalamazoo where it could be sold. Boulding and Richardson also transported
young men from Detroit for the purpose using them as drug runners who would sell their crack
cocaine and other drugs in Kalamazoo. After deliberating for less than an hour, the jury delivered
a guilty verdict as to the conspiracy count and also convicted Boulding of possessing with intent to distribute 43 grams of crack cocaine on February 28, 2008.
U.S. Attorney Gross commended the Drug Enforcement Agency (“DEA”) and the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team (“KVET”) for their joint investigation and exemplary work on the case. This case was prosecuted on behalf of the United States by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Matthew G. Borgula and Elisa Castrolugo.
