Guided Tours

Self guided tours of the park can be done by using this website, obtaining a copy of the North Cascades Challenger, talking to a Park Ranger, CD’s, books, and maps of the Park. Various commerical guided tours are also available.

Naturalist tours by National Park Rangers are regularly scheduled during the summer and by special request at other times of the year.

During 2006, special family tours at the new North Cascades Environmental Learning Center (ELC) are hikes on Saturday afternoons and canoe trips on Sunday mornings. Ask a ranger or visit the ELC for details.

Many private companies offer activities and tours by permit in the North Cascades. Lady of the Lake cruises up Lake Chelan to the remote area of Stehekin. Check the Accommodations and Services Highlight link.

Great Horned Owl

Did You Know?
Owl's eyes are fixed in place because their large size provides no room for muscle. To compensate for this, it can turn its head in almost any direction and angle, including the ability to rotate its head nearly 280 degrees. By comparison, people can only turn their heads a mere 90 degrees!
