Big South Fork to hire Centennial Seasonals
Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area (NRRA) Superintendent Reed Detring is pleased to announce that the Centennial Initiative will have a positive impact on the Big South Fork area due to an increase in the park’s budget of almost $250,000.  These funds will be used to hire additional  seasonal staff in order to provide enhanced service to park visitors as well as increased protection of the area’s natural and cultural resources.

The Fourteenth Annual "Haunting in the Hills” Storytelling Festival will be held Saturday, September 23, 2006 in the Big South Fork NRRA.  The event will include dulcimer and craft workshops, afternoon storytelling presentations, Dulcimer and Blue Grass concerts.  The day's events will conclude with a Ghost Story concert in the area adjacent to the Bandy Creek Visitor Center.

In 2005 the General Management Plan for Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area was finalized and approved.  The General Management Plan, will now serve as a guiding document for park management and operations for the next 15 to 20 years.

Park to Conduct Prescribed Fire in Darrow Ridge Area
Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area is planning to conduct a prescribed fire in the Darrow Ridge area of the park  during April of 2006.  The plan calls for the park to burn an area of some 550 acres bounded by Darrow Ridge Road and East Laurel Fork.
