Rebecca O. (Becky) Campoverde is Assistant Secretary for Legislation and Congressional Affairs at the U.S. Department of Education. In that role, she advises the secretary on education and other legislative matters pending before Congress and serves as the Department's liaison in responding to congressional requests.

Previously, Campoverde was deputy staff director of the Committee on Education and the Workforce of the U.S. House of Representatives, where she also served as communications director. Her government relations experience includes consulting on a variety of issues, including NAFTA and other trade matters.

Campoverde was a member of the Bush-Cheney Transition Team for the U.S. Department of Education. Her prior service at the Department included being deputy chief of staff to Secretary Lamar Alexander and chief of staff to two successive deputy secretaries. Before moving to Washington to be legislative assistant to Rep. Steve Bartlett (R-TX), Campoverde did communications for the Dallas Independent School District and also worked as a reporter in Texas.

Born in Ecuador, Campoverde is a naturalized U.S. citizen. She is a graduate of Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. She is married and has one child.
