On February 5, 2007, BLM implemented Transport Layer Security (TLS) on all secure web servers. (The Arizona MTP/HI webpage is on a secure server). If the Arizona MTP/HI Search  page doesn't display at all (in other words it says "The page cannot be displayed"), then your web browser probably needs to be set to enable TLS.

Here are the instructions for setting Internet Explorer to enable TLS:

  • On the Tools menu, click Internet Options
  • On the Advanced tab, under Security, make sure that "Use TLS 1.0" checked (towards the bottom of the list)
  • Click Apply, and then click OK

If you are able to see the Arizona MTP/Hi webpage, but cannot view a map (the Acordex Java Tiff Viewer does not open to display the TIFF images), then most likely Java is not properly enabled on your computer.

Here are instructions for checking that you have Java installed (Windows XP):

  • Click on "Start"
  • Click on "Control Panel"
  • If your computer is in Category View, click on "Switch to Classic View"

If you do not see a Java icon, you may download Java from here and install it.  If you are in a corporate environment and cannot install Java yourself, you will need to call your local Help Desk and request that it be installed.

TLS must also be enabled on Java.

Here are instructions for setting TLS security in Java for Windows XP:

  • Click on "Start"
  • Click on "Control Panel"
  • If your computer is in Category View, click on "Switch to Classic View"
  • Double-click on "Java"
  • Click on "Advanced" tab
  • Click on "+" next to “Security"
  • Check "Use TLS 1.0"
  • Click "OK"

If Java is installed and you can view maps but not print them, most likely you are in a corporate environment and cannot install the files needed to print from this site.  Contact your Help Desk.  Ask them to log in with admin permissions, come to the site, access and print a tiff file.  After that, printing these files will always work from your computer.
