Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS)

Partners

Complex projects such as PIRLS cannot be accomplished by only one agency or organization. Throughout the course of PIRLS, the National Center for Education Statistics works with multiple partners.

The International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) serves as the international coordinating body for the PIRLS studies.
The PIRLS International Study Center at Boston College directs the studies at the international level including the design, operations, analysis, and reporting.
RTI International managed the United States implementation of PIRLS 2006.
Westat managed the United States implementation of PIRLS 2001.
