Phoenix, AZ -- Due to the holidays, telephone numbers set up to assist persons who incurred damage from severe storms and flooding that stuck the state in October and November, will be closed temporarily on Christmas Day, Monday, Dec. 25; and on New Year's Day, Monday, Jan. 1, 2001. The Arizona Division of Emergency Management (ADEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) set up these telephone lines to register disaster victims for assistance and to provide additional information on the disaster recovery process.

The telephone services will resume normal operation immediately following each holiday. Normal hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Anyone who suffered damages or losses from the disaster in La Paz, Pinal, Maricopa and Yavapai counties; and in the Gila River Indian Community may register for state and federal disaster assistance by calling the toll-free number, 1-800-462-9029. People with speech or hearing impairments may call 1-800-462-7585 (TTY).
