Utah BLM State Director touts vital local partnerships

Friday November 30, 2007, Utah BLM State Director Selma Sierra joined with Iron County Commissioners and members of the Central Iron County Water Conservancy District to dedicate a water system that will not only supply businesses, schools and residential neighborhoods throughout the valley with much-needed culinary water; the system also provides valuable water to a host of diverse users on site at the Three Peaks Special Recreation Management Area.

“At the core of BLM’s mission is a focus of supporting communities, their growth and their diverse needs. Today we commemorate the successes of partners whose efforts meet such an array of community needs,” said Sierra. The success known to Three Peaks SRMA not only satisfies town and community water needs as a direct results of the partnerships forged here, in addition, the ever- increasing community recreation needs may be met here now and in the future.

“Partnerships like those with Cedar City BLM, Iron County Commission and the Central Iron County Water Conservancy District are models of excellence; prime examples of working relations that begin when federal public servants positively and effectively collaborate with their city, state and county counterparts,” Sierra said.
