Fire
Since August of 2000 and the start of the  National Fire Plan, the BLM Cedar City Field Office has worked diligently to keep pace with the region's needs, augmented by its rapidly growing wildland urban interface. Still, issues such as the recent trends in home building and subdivision growth along with the ever-increasing number of acres consumed by wild fires each successive season, bring concerns for fire managers and experts.

In light of these concerns, the Cedar City Field Office has successfully met the region's fire suppression and mitigation needs, due in part to cooperative efforts. Not only does the Cedar City Field Office partner efforts with neighboring BLM offices,  the Cedar City Field Office also couples its fire efforts with other state and federal agencies. The Color Country Fire Management Group is just one example of Cedar City Field Office's cooperative fire suppresssion and mitigation efforts. The Color Country Fire Management Group consists of interagency fire partners throughout Southwest Utah and Northern Arizona with partners that include the BLM, Forest Service, National Park Service and Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands. These agencies combine fire efforts and resources which come together at the Cedar City Interagency Fire Center and are then dispatched throughout Southwest Utah.
