My experience at the Sacramento U.S. Export Assistance Center has exceedingly contributed to my personal and professional development. I gained the experience, confidence and skills necessary to achieve success. Having been mentored by Director George Tastard, I have come to better understand the business realm, and that hard work, dedication and excellent communication skills are necessary to effectively manage a successful business.

During my six month tenure, I was treated as an employee. I was tasked with projects that required focus, discipline, and a willingness to learn; the projects varied from Market Research, communicating with CEO’s and top governmental officials around the world, conducting business plans for respective clients, data collecting, planning international delegations and translating for the Spanish speaking business communities around the world. I was provided opportunities to coordinate and attend International Business events hosted by The Northern California World Trade Center and the California Centers for International Trade Development, all of which allowed me to meet many skilled professionals from across the globe.

I learned to communicate and operate in a professional and fast paced environment, and therefore I feel confident to say that these have been the most productive six months that I have spent during my undergraduate career at UC Davis. The U.S. Export Assistance Center internship experience has greatly exceeded my expectations and the everyday challenges of international relations. I leave this experience with tremendous growth and the confidence that it will guide me in my future endeavors.
