Partner Profile Sprint Nextel offers a comprehensive range of communications services bringing mobility to consumer, business and government customers. Sprint Nextel is widely recognized for developing, engineering and deploying innovative technologies, including two robust wireless networks offering industry leading mobile data services; instant national and international walkie-talkie capabilities; and an award-winning and global Tier 1 Internet backbone. Sprint Nextel is applying its innovative approach at its operational headquarters campus in Overland Park, Kansas, through a green power commitment. In a five-year contract with Kansas City Power and Light, Sprint Nextel will purchase the first 10MW of capacity of the 100MW farm, which is KCP&L's Spearville Wind Generation Facility. This purchase covers up to 100% of the power used at Sprint Nextel's operational headquarters and makes Sprint Nextel a part of the prestigious Green Power Leadership Club. The EPA estimates that Sprint Nextel's purchase is equivalent to avoiding more than 121 million pounds of carbon dioxide (CO2), or the same amount of electricity needed to power over 7,000 average American home each year.
