Previously, D'Amico served as a senior fellow and co-director of the Hudson Institute's Workforce Development Center. She was also a policy and planning specialist for the Indiana Department of Education and a program analyst for the Indiana Office of Fiscal and Management Analysis.

D'Amico received a master's degree and Ed.D. from Indiana University in Bloomington.

President Bush formally nominated her on June 29 and she was confirmed by the Senate on July 19.

"Carol D'Amico is taking on the vital mission of helping Americans keep pace in the rapidly changing global economy," Paige said. "I am delighted with President Bush's choice and welcome her as a colleague in our important work for students of all ages."
