Event Date: September 25, 2002
U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige will travel to New York City on Wednesday, September 25, to visit Samuel Gompers Vocational and Technical High School.
The Secretary will view an interactive classroom demonstration with New York City Schools' technology partner Cablevision Systems Corporation. The demonstration will feature Cablevision's Power to Learn technology and online learning supplements, used to support teachers in the classroom and connect classrooms to parents and the community.
Invited guests include New York Mayor Bloomberg; New York City Schools Chancellor Joel Klein; Cablevision president and CEO James Dolan; Allan Houston of the New York Knicks; and Teresa Weatherspoon of the WNBA's New York Liberty. The event marks the last stop on the 25-city No Child Left Behind Tour Across America. During his remarks, Secretary Paige will highlight President Bush's No Child Left Behind plan for education reform.
