STEVE MANCINI NAMED TO NATIONAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON INSTITUTIONAL QUALITY AND INTEGRITY

Steve Mancini, an education doctoral student at Harvard University, has been named to the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI) by U.S. Secretary of Education Richard W. Riley.

Prior to returning to school this fall, Mancini was the communications director for the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Elementary and Secondary Education.

"I am so very pleased that Steve has agreed to join the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity," said Riley. "His dedication to improving American education will be of tremendous benefit to the committee's work."

The committee advises the secretary regarding his responsibility for publishing a list of state approval agencies and nationally recognized accrediting agencies. NACIQI also assesses the process of eligibility and certification of institutions of higher education and the provision of student financial aid.

"Being named a student member of NACIQI is a great honor," said Mancini. "I value the opportunity to represent my peers and to learn from the distinguished members of this committee."

Mancini will serve on the committee for a three-year term.
