Disaster Recovery Centers To Cease Operations September 10

Dededo, Guam -- The Disaster Recovery Centers at the Yigo gymnasium and the Meritzo Community Center will close permanently at the close of business on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

FEMA and GovGuam disaster officials announced that the closings coincide with the Sept. 10 application deadline. Island residents and business owners have until 6 p.m. on Tuesday to visit either location.

Officials stress that the centers will only be open three more days: Friday, Sept. 6, and Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 9 and 10, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Both centers will be closed on Saturday, Sept. 7 and Sunday, Sept. 8.

Persons not registered are urged to do so by the deadline date, either by calling the toll-free number, 1-800-621-3362 (TTY 1-800-462-7585) Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., or by visiting one of the centers.

U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Remains open

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced that their disaster office, located on the first floor of the Micronesia mall near the Expo Hall, will be open on Saturday, Sept. 7 during their normal hours of 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This location will continue to remain open Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. until further notice.
