We are celebrating!

Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument was originally Gran Quivira National Monument, established 1909.

2009, our 100th anniversary, should be a special year. Our regular annual events should be bigger and better than usual. In partnership with the Western National Parks Association and the Torrance County Archeological Society, we have extra events planned for every month of 2009. For the latest information about what is coming up at Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument, please check our Events Calender.

In April we'll be focusing on the schools. So far, May has a flint-knapping workshop at Gran Quivira on the 2nd and International Migratory Bird Day at Quarai on the 9th.

Park Ranger Craig Morgan will be providing guided tours titled Voices in the Wind at 1:00 pm at Gran Quivira each Saturday and Sunday from May 2 to September 5.

Salinas Rangers will be giving evening talks at our neighboring Manzano Mountain State Park.  The talks will be at 7:00 pm on April 18, May 8, June 5, July 24, August 15 and September 24.

Our Summer kick-off event is coming together for June 6, with Laguna Elementary dancers and Thunderknife drummers already scheduled for Gran Quivira.

Many of the events are still on the drawing board. Check with us often here at our website or call us at 505 847 2585 extension 0.
