Command Sergeant Major Micheal L. Buxbaum assumed duties as the Tenth Command Sergeant Major of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on 28 April 2008. He hails from Manitowoc, Wisconsin and entered the United States Army in September 1978 at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri as a Combat Engineer. He previously served as the Command Sergeant Major of the 18th Engineer Brigade.
CSM Buxbaum has served throughout the United States and overseas in every leadership position from Team Leader to Brigade CSM. His assignments include: CSM of the 18th Engineer Brigade, Germany; 130th Engineer Brigade, Germany; CSM of the 54th Engineer Battalion, Germany; CSM of the 41st Engineer Battalion, Fort Drum, New York; Bravo Co., 82nd Engineer Battalion, Germany; Support Squadron 11th Armored Calvary Regiment, Fort Irwin, California.; Readiness Group Redstone, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama; Delta Co., 23rd Engineer Battalion, Germany; Bravo Co. 326th Engineer Battalion, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Delta Co. 82nd Engineer Battalion, Germany; Bravo Co. 14th Engineer Battalion, Fort Ord, California; Bravo Co. 2nd Engineer Battalion, Korea. Combat tours include: Operations Desert Storm/Desert Shield, Operation Iraqi Freedom 1 and Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-07. CSM Buxbaum has also deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina, (SFOR 4B) and Kosovo, (KFOR 1B).
CSM Buxbaum is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. His military education includes: Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Primary Non-Commissioned Officer Course, First Sergeants Course, Battle Staff Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Master Fitness Course, Air Assault School, Pathfinder Course, and Sapper Leaders Course.
