Port of San Francisco - Burlingame, California

San Francisco is a designated port of entry for fish and wildlife shipments. The Wildlife Inspectors in Burlingame, CA, are responsible for covering the Ports of San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose.  This includes passenger arrivals, air cargo, ocean cargo, international mail and express carriers.

The Wildlife Inspectors are responsible for the facilitation of legal wildlife trade as well as the interdiction of illegal wildlife.  The Ports of San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose routinely see shipments containing live wildlife, such as pet birds and corals for the pet trade, as well as shipments containing sport hunted trophies from Africa.  The Wildlife Inspectors also conduct cross training of Customs and Border Protection officers to aid in the interdiction of illegal wildlife.
