FRANCHISING
New Zealand
New Zealand franchising is seeing annual growth of approximately 15%, from a higher base of more outlets than three years ago. Certain industry sectors related to health and wellness and business services are still growing at 25% per year. Franchise operations appeal to New Zealanders who wish to be self-employed and manage their own companies, and who see a business opportunity in providing more choice to consumers. An analysis of the USD 7 billion New Zealand franchise industry reveals that retailing (29%) which includes food, beverage, and other retail and accommodation services, and property and business services (23%) represent most of the industry. U.S. franchising systems are well accepted and enjoy a high profile.
