Ecotoxicology Exposure Facility

Ecotoxicology Exposure Facility: EPA scientists conducting research on fish.

The ecotoxicology exposure facility provides scientists the ability to test the effects of exposure to chemicals and ultraviolet radiation on freshwater invertebrates, fish, and amphibians. The facility's four flow-through chambers allow manipulation of toxicant concentration, light intensity, photoperiod, and temperature. An image analysis system is available to characterize adverse effects on test organisms, and advanced analytical support is available to monitor toxicant exposures. EPA scientists have used this facility to conduct groundbreaking research on the effects endocrine disrupting chemicals have on the sexual differentiation of fish.
