Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation

Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation seeks to promote reinvestment in urban, suburban and rural communities by local financial institutions working cooperatively with residents and local government. It funds 235 organizations, monitors their progress, and provides grants and consulting services.

  • Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation's purpose is clear in addressing neighborhood decline, a need that is evidenced in part by low homeownership rates in high-poverty areas. It forms strong partnerships with a variety of national and local organizations to leverage its investments and monitors the progress of its grantees. It consistently meets its annual performance goals.
  • While it successfully targets populations of need (first-time homeowners, minorities and low-income households), it is less successful at targeting geographic areas of need. This is important because it will assist Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation in assessing what programs best address neighborhood decline.

  • Testing and refining its set of indicators that best describe successful community development and determining targets for performance and outcome measures based on this set of indicators.
