Overview
To promote discussions on workplace safety and health, the Associated General Contractors of
Washington, and OSHA’s Seattle office will share information, convene forums on injury and illness
trends and develop models OSHA can incorporate as industry recommendations.

II. Implementation Team Meetings
Held planning meetings at the AGC office to discuss and set goals for the alliance on March 2, 2006,
June 1, 2006, and October 5, 2006.
III. Events and Products
Training and Education
- Events
Jointly conducted a crane safety seminar for Federal and State inspectors and contractors.
Meetings are held at the AGC of Washington on a monthly basis. Representatives from the safety
field, Labor and Industries, and federal OSHA discuss relevant items of the month with regards to
construction safety.
- Products
OSHA provides a Newsletter to the Safety Committee on a monthly basis. The newsletter mission
statement is as follows:
To provide a monthly update on OSHA activity that affects the jurisdiction of Region Ten - Alaska,
Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Additionally, provide committees and safety and health groups with
pertinent topics for their membership. Material is collected from the OSHA website, or information
that has been presented to the public in various forums or media.
Outreach and Communication
- Events
OSHA participates in the AGC’s safety steering committee meetings.
OSHA provided a judge for selecting AGC’s safety award winners and attended the awards ceremony.

handouts at monthly AGC meetings.
Promoting the National Dialogue on Workplace Safety and Health
- Events
OSHA participates in the AGC’s safety steering committee meetings.
OSHA and the AGC worked with the Seattle Fire Department and the skilled trades developing a plan
to integrate skilled construction personnel into the initial response to natural disasters and
terrorist incidents.
The alliance is in its fourth year and both OSHA and the AGC of Washington stress the mutual
benefits of this alliance and plan to continue the agreement.

IV. Results
OSHA’s interaction with AGC has led to better and more frequent communication between the partners
which leads to better understanding of the standards and safer work sites.
