(ABC) Annual Alliance Report - January 19, 2006
I. Alliance Background Date Signed January 19, 2004 Overview The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) agreed to establish an Alliance to promote safe and healthful working conditions for employees in the construction industry, particularly hard-to-reach and youth workers. II. Implementation Team and Contributors: OSHA and ABC conducted all required quarterly meeting by both teleconferencing and formal personal meetings. These meetings were conducted as scheduled on – February 9, 2005; June 14, 2005; August 29, 2005 November 16, 2005. Evaluation Period: January 19, 2005, through January 19, 2006 III. Events and Products Training and Education FY 2005 Area Director participated in OSHA 10 and 30 hour courses conducted in Spanish; CAS participated in courses offered in English   30 OSHA 10 and 30 hour courses conducted   10 safety courses provide on fall protection, scaffolding, trenching and confined spaces   Two CSHO’s attended 10 and 30 hour classes   Partnered with Georgia Tech and presented the OSHA-500 and 502 courses Outreach and Communication FY 2005 Assisted in the distributed of safety and health outreach material developed by OSHA Region IV, such as the Electrical, Falls, and Struck-By CDs, as well as the Tool Box Review Booklet   ABC’s Florida East Coast Chapter members were registered for the OSHA Region IV newsletter Promoting the National Dialogue on Workplace Safety and Health FY 2005 Sponsored one of the Executive Seminars that was presented by OSHA, USF SafetyFlorida, USF OTI Center and Florida Department of Workers Compensation to inform employers in the construction industry in Florida of hazards in the industry and ways to make safety pay for their organizations and fund the two Hispanic Safety and Health Fairs held in South and Central Florida   ABC members participated in the South Florida Feria Familiar de Salud y Seguridad, Family Safety & Health Fair in Homestead, (June 4, 2004) and the Central Florida Fair in Kissimmee (August 20, 2005). The primary purpose of these events was to promote safety and health in the Hispanic community. IV. Results • Significant achievements in the area of training and education include the accomplishment of 30 - OSHA 10 and 30 hour courses conducted by ABC, which resulted in over 2200 workers trained. During this period, Construction Safety & Health classes were conducted for over 300 workers in Spanish. V. Upcoming Milestones Participate in OTI courses conducted by Georgia Tech Participate in several of the OSHA 10 hour construction courses conducted by ABC Continue to promote safety & health in the construction industry Renew Alliance
