U.S. Labor Department’s OSHA invites Puerto Rico alliance partners to September 13 meeting on promoting safe and healthful workplaces

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) invites present and past participants in the agency’s Puerto Rico-based safety and health alliances and partnerships to a meeting at the University of Puerto Rico’s Rio Piedras Campus on September 13, beginning at 8:30 a.m. AST.

The purpose of the meeting is for the partners to explore ways of pooling their resources to enhance their training and outreach programs. The meeting also will feature an OSHA update on achievements of existing alliances and partnerships. OSHA has formed eight alliances and eight site safety partnerships in Puerto Rico.

“Each alliance or partnership addresses a specific audience or worksite, but many training needs and desires are similar,” said José A. Carpena, OSHA’s area director for Puerto Rico. “We want to explore working in collaboration to provide a greater number of employers and employees in Puerto Rico with vital safety and health information and training. I encourage all OSHA partners to attend and share their thoughts and ideas.”
