Agreement Highlights Training to Combat Threats to Worker Safety and Health EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -- Workers in the greater Eau Claire, Wis., area will benefit from an alliance signed today between the Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) and the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The alliance is designed to prevent some of the most common workplace injuries and illnesses. The CVTC and the Eau Claire OSHA area office signed the formal alliance to develop training programs and materials that focus on relevant health and safety issues. The groups will arrange for the presentation of workplace safety and health courses for employees, supervisors and management officials employed in the CVTC district and all areas covered by the alliance. "This alliance will help us combat all kinds of hazards through the development and presentation of programs designed to keep working men and women safe on the job," said OSHA Area Director Mark Hysell, Eau Claire. "Joining with an organization with the stature and reputation of the Chippewa Valley Technical College to confront these issues will ultimately make area workplaces safer." OSHA health and safety alliances are part of U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao's ongoing effort to improve health and safety for workers through cooperative partnerships. OSHA's role is to assure the safety and health of America's workers by setting and enforcing standards; providing training, outreach and education; establishing partnerships; and encouraging continual process improvement in workplace safety and health.
