Take the Eco-Challenge

From the perspective of a business, governmental agency, or nonprofit wishing to reduce its carbon footprint, assessing and deciding between the dozens of EPA voluntary green partnership programs can be a daunting task. To help you decide which programs may be the best fit for you, EPA Region 6 has packaged these programs into an Eco-Challenge Network and provides you with a "Green Pages Guide." Our goal is to enhance your understanding of these programs, and to facilitate your participation in various partnership programs that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The guide contains in one place over 4 dozen national or regional programs or initiatives that make up the Eco-Challenge Network.

Included in the guide is a short description of each program or initiative, a website for more information and a Region 6 point of contact. You'll also find a matrix of programs with cross-references to business and industrial sectors. By following the sector most like your facility, you can locate programs that we think may best aligned with your interests - but feel free to participate in any program!

Some of the programs were not established with climate change in mind, but have climate change benefits through implementation. For example, the Pollution Prevention program works with businesses and industries to make process improvements that reduce waste streams and improve efficiencies. Many of the efficiency improvements also reduce the greenhouse gas emissions at the facility. Other programs like Climate Leaders were established around mitigating and adapting to climate change. We hope the Green Pages Guide will make it easier for you to do your part to reduce your carbon footprint. We provide the Green Pages Guide: in both letter (PDF - 24 pp, 4942K, About PDF) and booklet (PDF - 12 pp, 2130K, About PDF) formats.
