The Elko District encompasses about 7.5 million acres of public lands, intermixed with about 3.5 million acres of private land, in northeastern Nevada. Two resource management plans (RMPs), guide BLM management of these lands. The Wells RMP was approved in 1985; it covers the area in the eastern half of Elko County. The 1987 Elko RMP covers the western half, and northern portions of Lander and Eureka counties. Both RMPs have been amended or updated to be consistent with current BLM programs and policies. Consolidation and revision of the RMPs is scheduled to begin in 2010.
The approved plans, and associated National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents can be viewed from the list below. For information on currently proposed activities to implement the RMPs, click on this link to the Elko NEPA webpage.
