Conservation and You

Click anywhere on the house to start our interactive feature on energy conservation.
Every day we all use energy.  We use it to get to school or work, to prepare our food, to heat or cool our homes, to produce goods, and to communicate with each other. Energy is one of the basic necessities of our universe. This is particularly true in the United States :  Americans make up only four percent of the world's population, but use 24 percent of the world's energy.  More than 90 percent of the energy produced and consumed in the world today is from nonrenewable sources. Such resources as coal, oil, and natural gas cannot be replaced as they are used, or can only be replaced very slowly by natural processes.  By reducing our use of energy -- energy conservation -- we can make supplies of nonrenewable fossil fuels last longer.  Energy conservation is an area where individuals of almost any age can have an immediate, positive impact on our world. Click here to explore "our house" to find the many ways you can help conserve energy.  Then come back here to learn more!

"Get Energized" Interactive Program Now Available
